"Customer states unit caught on fire during a cycle, smoke & flames began emitting from the right side of the door. Upon arrival unit smelled like smoke. Removed door and indeed there was evidence of a thermal event; plastic on the board was melted and soot was present. Seems to have originated from the P3 & P4 connections. All connections on the sump assembly & heating element looked fine. Contacted Whirlpool tech line and was suggested to replace all damaged components if parts are still available. Contacted Whirlpool Safety department after speaking with tech line. Safety Department stated they will speak with the consumer and contact them with a resolution; no further repair is to be done.
